Major Cheap Ass Fun!
by
Liam Routt
This year UniCon is being visited by a horde of simple, cheap, clever,
and fun games!
Cheapass Games are responsible for a bunch of small games with odd
backstories and intelligent, but simple, mechanics. You may have heard of
Please Pass the Brain, or Kill Doctor Lucky, or Falling. If you are
particularly blessed you might even have played one or two of these fine
games, and a few people have even managed to find them in stores and buy
them.
We will be running informal demos of a variety of games from the Cheapass
range. Everyone is encouraged to drop by and learn a game or two. Think
of it as trying before buying! Most of the games take only a few minutes
to explain, so you can pop in whenever you have a free moment!
We have a few special features planned:
- The Incredible Victorian State Fry-Off!
A pseudo-organized Lord of the Fries championship. Lord of the Fries is a
card game where the players are zombies competing to make fast food in a
crummy burger joint... We will feature a special "Oztraalian" fast-food
menu and provide some sort of tacky prizes! Beginners are welcome - we'll
teach you the game and have you serving fries and drinks in no time!
- Button Men Bonanza!
Button Men is a quick little dueling game you can play with a handful of
dice. It is simple and fast enough to play between classes, or when the
GM darts out to the toilet. But don't let the small number of rules fool
you - the strategy of Button Men is quite deep! We want everyone at
UniCon to learn Button Men! Come by and ask us how!
- Fight City Frenzy!
Fight City hasn't been released yet, but it will be in print by UniCon.
It is a simple two player card game about fights in the big city. This'll
probably be one of the few places you'll be able to see the game publicly
(if the stores continue to be slow to order Cheapass stuff). We will also
have the other more recent (and thus near-impossible to find) games like
Deadwood (be an extra in cheap westerns!), and perhaps even BRAWL (a brand
new real time card game to be released in August!).
).

you have any questions about these Cheapass demos, or if you have a
suggestion for
another Cheapass demo!
