General Info

UniCon 2005 is running from Friday the 30th of September to Sunday the 2nd of October, 2005. The Con will be held at the University of Melbourne, and contains enough events to thrill any keen games player.

Why come to a Convention?

People come to a Convention (or con) for a million and one reasons. Some of them come to see what this roleplaying thing is all about. Others play with their friends at home, but want to see what other games are out there. Some folks are con butterflies and come for the chance to play and socialise with the people they met at the last con. You should come! Why?

Well, if you've never been to a con before, then Unicon is perfect for you - cosy, cheap and delicious. We present a fine selection of games with friendly GMs and organisers - not just roleplaying but also miniature war gaming, and the relaxed and casual trivia and Baron Munchausen. Its easy to get into the swing of things without the press of the crowd that you might find at a larger convention.

If you're an established gamer, then you get to play in freeforms, or try out new systems that you might not have had a chance to see. If you're into minatures or board games, it can be hard to find opponents (and time!) - a convention provides a meeting place for plenty of fellow enthusiasts.

But simply put, people come to cons to have fun.

Ok, so you're interested?

Excellent!

The event list is all finalised and the writers are working like busy bees to get the thoughts out of their heads, onto paper and playtested all ready for the first session of the Con. You should check them out and decide what you want to play. Once you've done that, you can login to our online rego and sign up!

Where is it?

Unicon is being held at:

How much is it?

For anyone playing the by-session events, the cost is $5 registration and then a measly $4 per session, topping out at a Get Wrecked registration at $30 - if your fees reach that point, you pay no more, and can play as many sessions as you can squeeze in.

If you're just curious and want to have a look about, a Visitor's Pass is $5 for the entire convention, and means you can look around to get a feel for the con, sit and watch the Anime, or join in the Paint-n-take event. If you like what you see, its just a simple matter to turn that pass into a player registration and leap straight in.

If your tastes tend more towards the Minatures end of gaming, then you're looking at $15 for any of the minature events - Necromunda, WarMachine or Bloodbowl.
